Beach Residence
Crescent Beach
Project Manager: Mike Davis
Superintendent: Wayne Davis
The Beach Residence was designed with the owner’s interest and dreams in mind. The owner’s are private people so the house was positioned on the lot to give the house a private feel from the surrounding areas. The exterior of the house was designed with a New England style that is very unique from typical houses in St. Augustine. Many considerations were made to reduce maintenance on the exterior of the house in a very harsh environment. Cast stone hand rails, instead of wood rails, were used to help reduce future maintenance for the owners.
The octagon shape of the house allows for views of either the Atlantic Ocean or the Intercoastal Waterway from every room in the house. The interior of the house showcases A.D. Davis’s woodworking talents. Raw material was delivered to A.D. Davis and a team of carpenters had to refinish the wood to use for wood trim and cabinets throughout the house. The house also features a fireplace made from coquina which is a native stone of St. Augustine that was also used to construct the fort in downtown St. Augustine.
Southern Living did a documentary on the Beach Residence and can be seen by clicking on the “Southern Living” video link on the left hand navigator of this webpage.
