Flagler College Ponce Hall Towers
St. Augutine
Renovating and restoring Flagler College’s historic St.Augustine campus has become something of a family tradition for A.D.Davis Construction. The latest project at Ponce Hall is the renovation of the terra cotta material on both of the towers. The original terra cotta has deteriorated since its installation in 1888. It was in such bad shape that there was a risk of pieces falling off of the tower. A.D.Davis worked together with St.Augustine Cast Stone and Byron and James to make cast stone replicas of the original pieces. There is so much detail in the original design that it took significant time to match the shape and color of the original pieces. After months of trying to get the color and shape right, the original pieces have been replaced with replicas that will stand up for another 100 years.
