O’Reilly House
32 Aviles Street, St. Augustine
Project Manager: Mike Davis
Superintendent: Chuck Slayman
The restoration of this 4,700 square foot, three-story historic building was complete from top to bottom and inside out. The work included a new roof, new stucco exterior, window replacement, renovation to the interior doors and wood-work, plaster renovation and a refurbishing of the courtyard. Careful reproduction was needed to duplicate the windows, interior and exteriors to protect the home’s historical value. At every opportunity, the same materials were used to restore the home to its previous integrity includig tabby mix for plasterwork on exterior, woodwork and pane style for the windows, and plaster mix on the interior. Wood floors were re-sanded. Cedar shake was used for the roof replacement. All modern amenities such as upgraded plumbing and electric were carefully concealed.
